Hey guys, just a question. Im a reservist, CTing to the regs. Currently deployed and butted heads with an oc and now am no longer commanding a platoon. My CT is in and gone through for 00180 (Inf). Do you know if things like this follow your file from PRes to RegF and what kind of bearing that would have on getting a platoon after completing my mech training? Thanks guys.

How can I find out which trades are aggressively recruiting?

I have a few that I'm interested in, but could be swayed either way.  Unfortunately I can't seem to get any info to that effect.

It would be great if I could be a little proactive and find another trade to get into that'll get the ball rollin' sooner than later.

Much obliged,

Thanks for the links.

The first one is a dead thread from 07/2010 (last post), and a link on the forces website that doesn't work anymore.  I'm assuming that would have showed #'s for fresh recruits.  IE irrelevant for Res to Reg queries...no?

The other thread I'm looking through now has some more meat of course.  I've read back three+pages and it also seems to be focused on Reg OT's., not Res CT/OTs :(.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but there is a separate quota for the Res - Reg pool (D Mil C, is the only one with these stats), Reg - Reg OT (BPSO will handle this only), and CIvvy - Reg Recruiting (Recruiting Centres, Forces.ca website).  I am only interested in the highlighted one.

100 Jobs in Trade X for Year Y

50 Jobs in Trade X go to CFRC's for off the street

50 jobs in Trade X go to D Mil C for CT's and OT's

Trade X needs this many WO's, this many Sgt's, this many Mcpl's, this many Cpls and this many Pte's.

I just learned that initial/first postings for CTs are no longer entitled to a move cost/HHT/etc.  What about home purchase closing costs?  Those still covered?

Can someone comment?

CBI chapter 209 section 8 appplies to non-IRP moves.  I believe that is the applicable framework for a first posting for a CT, though you should confirm that.

The Infantry CT Board sat last week.  It was chaired by Director Infantry, and the members were the three Regimental Colonels, and one non-aligned (Artillery) Colonel.  The last 3 PERs (if available) formed the primary basis for scoring of the files.  If you have been selected, and are offered a position on DP 1.2, you will command a platoon in the Battalion, irrespective of whether or not you did so as a Reservist.

I do not know yet if I will get to stay at my current unit or will have to move.  The only thing I know right now is that I'll be staying in Greenwood.  My VIE is 3 yrs, so hopefully I will stay put until then at the very least.  My hubby and I both love the valley!

Hi i'm currently a Pte. in the reserves. I wish to do a CT to a Weapons Engineering Technician and I entend to do it soon (ASAP). I understand the Navy trades tend to have a harder time recruiting and the numbers from last year (for general recruitment) was 31 regular training and 85 NCM-SEP. I understand that there are different numbers for CT's but the NCM-SEP seems to be the choice best number wise. I wish to do the NCM-SEP program which would be best to get into before college starts next year. So my question is how long does a CT for NCM-SEP take (approximately) and would I have enough time to get in before the school restarts?

Talk to your unit next December, you may hear something then.

Eaglelord17: If you're OTing as well, you're looking about a year wait before you hear back. Trying for next college semester may be a longshot.

It sounds like you are going to do an occupation transfer (OT) along with a component transfer (CT) as well as switching environments.  The big hold up will be the OT as you may have guessed from previous posts.  The decision makers gather twice a year to decide who gets to transfer into the regular force.  It's a competitive process that is further complicated if the trade is in a hurt locker for folks.  W Eng Tech is doing well so your file will need to be in top form and there is no guarantee that there will be slots open.  If you do get in during the next round, you'll have time enough to go to school in the fall.
Don't become a PITA to your unit asking for updates.  This is one of those 'don't call us, we'll call you' scenarios.  Just make sure your info stays up to date and that all your i's are dotted and t's are crossed.

Talking to your unit about a CT you put in, is like going to McDonalds and asking what the deals are at Harvey's.  Your unit will at some point get a request for your pers file and thats it.  If you wanna know whats going on with your CT, you talk to the person in Ottawa who emailed you.  If you put in last month, you definately won't hear anything for a while 1) the xmas leave block, people are only now  all coming back to work and catching up.  2)Most trades are closed until the new fiscal year anyways.

Didn't catch that I said unit, I meant D MIL C. I totally agree that the unit is going to be in the dark. I notified mine about my CT, and I gave them more information than they got through official channels and messages.

Also, the D Mil C 7 deadline for all PSO shops to have files for all the OT/In Service Selection programs (NCM and Officer) was 15 Jan 12.  With initial offers being scheduled for 01 Mar 12 for the FY 12/13 OTs, I'd say its a safe bet that particular bunch of folks are very busy right now and will be leading up to the Selection Boards, and the follow-on work required to hit that 01 Mar date for the initial round of offers.

In short; be patient.  Its a busy time for them in the FY last quarter and I would assume this will affect CT progress as well.

Ah ok I wasn't aware of that. Though I wasn't really expecting anything much to happen for me in the FY 12/13 since I know there's a huge line of people ahead of me. Still, at least the ball is rolling.

Its just general info for people to consider.  Keep doing what you are doing, just realize that lots of stuff is happening in that org concurrently and they are not exactly over-staffed.

Well its been just about a year since I posted on this thread, and submitted my application for a CT/OT from PRes to Reg Force.  Transferring from MOSID 00008 (ARTY) to 00183 (PLT).  Figured I would post a quick update.

I initially applied for CEOTP (currently a serving NCM).  I have no idea if it will be open this fiscal year but I guess I will find out.  I finally heard back this week with my message.  My PERS file is being to be sent from my unit to the CFRC and I will be going in for an interview shortly thereafter.  I was told they couldn't add my civilian flying licenses to my MPRR (I'm almost sure they CAN), but was told to bring them along with logbooks into my interview.  I'm pretty excited something is FINALLY happening, although it sounds like even after the interview there could be a long wait ahead before the selection boards sit and make a decision.   Still excited nonetheless.  I'll post anymore updates as they transpire.    :)
